Are the Halcyon Days Over for Joe Biden?

By Patrick J. Buchanan

Friday – May 14, 2021 “But the defining crisis of the Biden presidency may be the crisis on America’s southern border… an annual rate of 2 million people walking into our country uninvited, the advance guard of a Third World invasion that will change the character and composition of the United States.”
On taking the oath of office, Jan. 20, Joe Biden may not have realized it, but history had dealt him a pair of aces.

The COVID-19 pandemic had reached its apex, infecting a quarter of a million Americans every day. Yet, due to the discovery and distribution of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, the incidence of infections had crested and was about to turn sharply down.

By May, the infection rate had fallen 80%, as had the death toll.

Thanks to the Operation Warp Speed program driven by President Donald Trump, the country made amazing strides in Biden’s first 100 days toward solving the major crises he inherited: the worst pandemic since the Spanish flu of 1918-1919 and the economic crash it had engendered.

But Biden’s pace car has hit the wall.

Where economists had predicted employment gains of a million new jobs in April, the jolting figure came in at about a fourth of that number.

One explanation: The $300-a-week in bonus unemployment checks the Biden recovery plan provides may have been a sufficient inducement for workers to stay home until their benefits ran out.

Workers might reasonably ask: Why go back to work when we can take the summer off, with full unemployment, plus $300 a week?

After the crushing jobs report came the inflation figure from April.

Consumer prices had risen 4.2%, the highest rate in a dozen years.

April’s combination of inflation and near-stagnant job growth recalls the “stagflation” of the Jimmy Carter years, which led to the Democratic rout of 1980 at the hands of Ronald Reagan.

And while we may not be suffering from stagflation just yet, the present symptoms in the U.S. economy are certainly consistent with it.

The bad news from the inflation front also sent the Dow and other markets plunging and raised fears of future Fed intervention to raise interest rates to choke off the inflation.

Moreover, rising prices, driven in part by our historic federal deficits, stiffened the spines of Republicans in their resistance to Biden’s $2.3 trillion infrastructure and jobs program, his $1.8 trillion in added domestic spending and his $4 trillion in taxes to pay for it all.

Sen. Mitch McConnell came out of Wednesday’s White House meeting with Biden to say that any tampering with the Trump tax cuts crosses a “red line” for him and Senate Republicans.

The odds on Biden getting any of his taxes has just fallen dramatically. And he may be forced to come down closer to the GOP proposal if he hopes to get any of his infrastructure package through.

At present, Biden does not have a single sure Republican vote for his spending proposals — and even some Democrats in the evenly divided Senate oppose his plans for social spending and higher taxes.

Added to this economic news was a stunning ransomware attack on Colonial Pipeline, which feeds fuel to states from Texas to New Jersey.

Within days, the shutdown of the pipeline had induced panic buying of gas at the pumps, resulting in a sweeping closure of gas stations from Delaware to the Gulf Coast.

As alarming as the ransomware attack was, more alarming is what it portends if cybercriminals abroad can, with the flick of a switch, inflict such instant damage on the U.S. economy.

If cybercriminals can pull this off, what cannot our adversaries, with their sophisticated and superior weapons of cyberwarfare, not do to the United States?

But that was not the end of the bad news for Biden this week.

A shooting war erupted between Hamas and Israel after a dispute over ownership of homes in East Jerusalem led to clashes between Arab protesters and Israeli police at the al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount.

The clashes brought barrages of over 1,000 rockets directed at Israeli towns and cities including Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. The Ben Gurion International Airport was forced to shut down.

Those who believed Trump’s Abraham Accords, where Israel was recognized by the UAE, Bahrain and Morocco, had ensured a more tranquil future suddenly seemed to have been as wrong as previous generations of optimists.

Today, even inside Israel, Arabs and Jews, both Israeli citizens, are battling in the streets.

Meanwhile, in Kabul, three bombs outside a high school killed 50 people and wounded scores more, many of them teenage girls — a portent of what may be coming when the Americans and allied troops are gone from the country by the 20th anniversary of 9/11.

But the defining crisis of the Biden presidency may be the crisis on America’s southern border, where another 170,000 illegal immigrants entered the country in April after an equally high number in March.

That is an annual rate of 2 million people walking into our country uninvited, the advance guard of a Third World invasion that will change the character and composition of the United States.

The America we grew up in is disappearing — without our consent.

PM Justin Trudeau walks in Vancouver Vaisakhi parade after reference to Sikh extremism deleted

[There was the Prime Minister, complete with a yellow headscarf or junior turban, with some sort of saffron scarf thrown over his shoulder, embracing a grinning fat Sikh in a fetching bright rose turban. There sheer diversity of the moment would be enough to make a citizen of the world swoon.  Well, the Clown Prince was in Vancouver April 13 at the Vaisakhi Sikh parade, playing Mr. Dressup as usual. Referring to the Sikhs, he proclaimed: “Let us also celebrate all the incredible contributions of this community.” Would he have marched in a European pride parade and hailed the even more “incredible contributions” of the European founding/settler people of this country, which build a land to which, by hook or by crook, Sikhs would flock to? I didn’t think so!

As part of the sanitizing of history and deliberate obfuscation to purge the public record of anything critical of the foreigners the replacement policies of our immigration system have brought to this country, the Liberal government in a shameful retreat from reality April 12,  agreed to Sikh demands. For all the yapping about equality, Sikhs, at less than one per cent of Canada’s population occupy 16 per cent of the federal cabinet seats. It’s White who should be demanding equality!

Trudeau’s morning speech came just hours after the federal government agreed to remove a reference to Sikh extremism from a report on terrorism. The Vancouver Sun (April 13) explains: ” The language was changed late Friday to remove any mention of religion, instead discussing the threat posed by ‘extremists who support violent means to establish an independent state within India.’ The 2018 Public Report on the Terrorism Threat to Canada drew the ire of the Sikh community when it was released in December. For the first time, the report listed Sikh extremism as one of the top five extremist threats in Canada. Although the objections were largely about the inclusion of Sikhs at all, because of the report’s lack of evidence to back it up, Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale said he would at least ask for a review of the language the report used.”

But the independent homeland backed by the violent extremists — remember the bombing of Air India — is to be a Sikh homeland in the Punjab, which is mostly in India, but part in Pakistan. It is not to be a Hindu or Jain or Buddhist or multicult homeland!

Goodale is a master at obscuring reality. If you can’t name the problem, how can you deal with it? Back in late 2016, as the invasion of illegals began trickling across the Manitoba and then the Quebec border, he chose to rename them as “irregular migrants” as if they’d somehow been strolling around Central Park, with their bulging suitcases, of course, and then, somehow taken a wrong turn and ended up a couple of hundred miles north at the Quebec border. By not calling these enabled invaders illegals, he can slip into bureaucratic mode and seek to regularize them through some paper shuffling.]

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau touted the strength and contributions of Canada’s Sikh community as he celebrated the religion’s holy day of Vaisakhi in Vancouver.

“As we celebrate Vaisakhi, let us also celebrate all the incredible contributions of this community,” he said in a speech after he walked in a parade Saturday organized by the Khalsa Diwan Society in Surrey. The society formed in 1902 and built the first Sikh Gurdwara in Canada several years later.

Trudeau joined other politicians and community members in walking amongst floats and performers. On the sidelines, people handed out free food, including snacks and full meals to passersby.

Sikhs have helped to build Canada for more than 120 years, Trudeau said, adding there are now Sikh entrepreneurs, politicians, artists and true leaders in every field.

He said the values celebrated during the holy day, like equality and social justice, are values that make Canada stronger.

Before the parade, Trudeau visited one of the largest Sikh temples in the country, Vancouver’s Ross Street Gurdwara, where he delivered a speech with similar sentiments. Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan also attended the festivities.

Attendees at the morning ceremony sat on the floor, many of them in colourful turbans, as speeches by several political leaders were broadcast on two massive screens.

He said entire religions should never be equated with terrorism.

There are roughly half a million Canadians who identify as Sikh, most of them in the Greater Toronto Area and suburban Vancouver.

New UN Declaration: Migrants Have Rights & Canadians Have Obligations

New UN Declaration: Migrants Have Rights & Canadians Have Obligations

Do your future a favour. Contact your MP and 1. alert him or her to a sinister conference to take place in drug sodden Marakesh, Morocco, and 2. demand that he vote against the Marakesh accord. Stoned or not, world leaders are being asked to endorse a lunatic declaration affirming the “rights” of migrants and OUR obligation to admit,  feed, and shelter them and, almost equally insane, our obligation to suppress criticism of the invasion. Don’t be mollified by being told that it’s merely a declaration, not a binding treaty. Over the years, Canadian governments have disloyally signed on to a number of UN conventions that have been used to strip Canadian of their rights. For instance, the interventionist New Brunswick Court of Queen’s Bench cited Canada’s endorsement of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination as justification for tearing up the will of the late Robert McCorkill who had willed his estate to the National Alliance, a U.S. White nationalist, allegedly “racist” group.

The Toronto Sun’s Candice Malcolm comments: “The Trudeau government is cheerleading a controversial United Nations initiative that has the potential to fundamentally change Canada.

It’s called the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, and UN representatives are meeting in Morocco in December to discuss and adopt this global agreement. It may sound like just another gathering of out-of-touch elites patting themselves on the back, and the compact’s text insists the agreement is non-binding. But the ideas proposed are not your run-of-the-mill aspirational  pledges. This UN compact is unprecedented and truly radical. It seeks to make immigration a universal human right.

‘Refugees and migrants are entitled to the same universal human rights and fundamental freedoms, which must be respected, protected and fulfilled at all times,’ reads the document’s preamble.

The agreement doesn’t simply apply to bona-fide refugees — those fleeing war and persecution whose government has failed to protect them. It applies to all migrants. It seeks to change international law and norms on migration, and blur the distinction between refugees and migrants — the latter merely seeking more economic opportunity but failing to do so according to a country’s established immigration rules. The compact stops just short of saying that every person from around the world has a right to live in Canada and become a Canadian citizen.

Illegals demanding charity

And it gets even worse. Alongside describing a world with no borders and no meaningful citizenship, the document includes a particularly disturbing section about the media. One of the ‘guiding principles’ is a ‘whole-of-society approach’ to promoting mass migration, including the role of the media. It calls upon governments to ‘promote independent, objective and quality reporting… and stopping allocation of public funding or material support to media outlets that systematically promote intolerance, xenophobia, racism and other forms of discrimination towards migrants.’

So much for a free press. The UN wants governments to actively intervene in the media and pick and choose which journalists are worthy of promoting, based on a radical ideology and far-left worldview. Is this what the Liberal government’s new $595-million media slush fund seeks to do? The prime minister and his top officials are known for name-calling and attacking anyone who disagrees with their dogma on immigration, diversity and multiculturalism.  Liberal officials frequently accuse opponents of being intolerant, xenophobic and racist for raising legitimate concerns about illegal immigration, border security and terrorism.

Are these accusations going to be tied to funding decisions for the media? Will recipients of Trudeau’s media fund be prohibited from criticizing open borders and mass migration? Will funding be tied to an attestation to promote UN propaganda? The Trudeau government has played a leading role in advancing this UN scheme; two Trudeau cabinet minister’s admitted so much in a September article in Maclean’s Magazine. ‘The UN’s global compact on refugees could be a game-changer — and Canada is well-placed to make it a reality,’ they argue.

This dystopian UN plan seeks to erase borders, destroy the concept of citizenship, undermine the rule of law and circumvent state sovereignty. It would change what it means to be Canadian and prevent the media from criticizing these fundamental changes.

Several of our allies, including Australia, the U.S. and Israel have already pulled out of this disastrous UN compact. Across the world, political leaders and respected journalists are ringing the alarm bell.

In Canada, however, the Trudeau government is welcoming this UN scheme, while most Canadian journalists are failing to inform Canadians about the radical changes on our doorstep. (Toronto Sun, December 1, 2018)
