In the early morning of October 31st, Nikki Hurst was walking in Batley.<\/p>\n

Three Muslim men approached her and asked for a light. When she told\u00a0them she didn\u2019t have one, they launched into a tirade of verbal abuse, calling her a\u00a0<\/span>\u201cgori slag\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>\u2013 a derogatory name often used by Muslims for white girls.<\/p>\n

<\/strong>Then they grabbed Nikki, smashed her face into a stone wall, and ran away.\u00a0<\/span><\/em>She regained consciousness alone, some 30 minutes later, with a large\u00a0wound on her forehead. She suffered serious injuries that have left permanent scars.<\/p>\n

Nikki told me her story. She showed me her scars. She showed me where she was attacked on the street:<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been a month, but Nikki says the police have still not taken her statement. Desperate for justice, Nikki posted photographs of her\u00a0injuries online \u2013 but the police warned her that\u00a0<\/span>she could get in trouble,\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong>for potentially inciting riots.<\/p>\n

Batley\u2019s Police Inspector is named\u00a0<\/span>Mohammed Rauf.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>He doesn\u2019t appear to be planning to investigate this racist attack. Even though Nikki knows the assailants go to a local school, and\u00a0she can even tell the police what class they are in thanks to their school uniforms.<\/p>\n
