actual<\/em><\/strong> illegal border crosser walking into Canada, placed overtop of Justin Trudeau\u2019s infamous #WelcomeToCanada tweet.<\/p>\nThe usual suspects on Twitter accused this ad of being \u201cracist\u201d because it included a picture of a border crosser. If you look closely, the man is African. (We didn\u2019t even notice at first).<\/p>\n
Like the overwhelming majority of border crossers, the man depicted \u2014 tastefully, without showing his face \u2014 is African.<\/p>\n
This makes sense, since the top two source countries of asylum seekers entering Canada are Nigeria and Haiti.<\/p>\n
What would these critics \u2014 including well-known and respected journalists \u2014 have preferred to see? That the skin colour of a migrant gets altered, so as not to offend politically correct sensibilities?<\/p>\n
The allegation that this post is somehow racist is bewildering enough on its own.<\/p>\n
But what happened next makes it worse.<\/p>\n
After the slightest bit of pressure, the Conservative Party of Canada caved and took down the ad\u00a0\u2014 tacitly admitting there was something wrong with it.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\nSeriously.<\/p>\n
