On March 12, the day before Parliament was suspended because of the pandemic, the Trudeau government announced its plan to accept one million immigrants in the next three years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since then, millions of Canadians have lost their job or been forced to work fewer hours.<\/b><\/p>\n

The situation has completely changed.<\/p>\n

It may take years for the unemployment rate to come down to more normal levels.<\/p>\n

Does it make sense to continue to welcome 350 thousand immigrants every year when millions of Canadians are out of a job?<\/p>\n

Of course not!<\/p>\n

We should give priority to Canadian workers looking for a job. <\/b><\/p>\n

For the moment, Canada\u2019s borders are closed to most non-residents and there is in effect an immigration moratorium.<\/p>\n

This moratorium should continue after the borders are reopened, until unemployment has gone down.<\/b><\/p>\n

And then, we should have a real debate about having a sustainable level of immigration, instead of the mass immigration that the Liberals are planning.<\/p>\n
