Peel Regional Police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By <a href=\"https:\/\/toronto.citynews.ca\/author\/michael-talbot\">Michael Talbot<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Posted July 5, 2024 12:14 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last Updated July 5, 2024 3:48 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police have charged five men after an investigation into violent extortion incidents in Peel Region and the Greater Toronto Area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a release Friday, Peel Regional Police said the suspects were allegedly involved in \u201cextorting victims by assaulting, threatening and discharging firearms.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The alleged incidents took place between December 2023 and May 2024. Police said the probe was launched after multiple people came forward to complain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPeel Regional Police will continue working to disrupt and dismantle criminal groups that harm our communities,\u201d said Deputy Chief, Marc Andrews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The suspects face the following charges:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dupinderdeep Cheema, 36, of Brampton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Criminal Harassment<br>\u2022 Fail To Comply<br>\u2022 Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence<br>\u2022 Extortion<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beant Dhillon, 51, of Brampton:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Assault<br>\u2022 Forcible Confinement<br>\u2022 Extortion<br>\u2022 Possession of Property Obtained by Crime<br>\u2022 Utter Threats<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arundeep Thind, 39-year-old,of unknown address:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Assault<br>\u2022 Forcible Confinement<br>\u2022 Extortion<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mustapha Alawiye, 32, of Mississauga:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Criminal Harassment<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kymani Hassakourinas, 32, of Mississauga \u201c\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Oh, by the way, what\u2019s their immigration status?
