The Bishops\u2019 Conference of France has denounced the organizers of the Olympic Games over an LGBTQ-themed parody of the Last Supper during the event’s opening ceremony. The organizers have claimed that the performance reflected their \u201cvalues and principles.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n The ceremony, which took place in central Paris on Friday night, concluded with a troupe of drag queens, homosexuals, and transsexuals posing at a table, as Jesus Christ and his apostles appeared in Leonardo Da Vinci\u2019s \u2018The Last Supper\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n A giant serving dish was then wheeled out in front of the table, from which emerged a mostly naked man made up to resemble Dionysus, the Greek god of wine and festivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Throughout the performance, a male dancer\u2019s exposed testicles could be seen behind the table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/Tweet.html?<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis ceremony unfortunately included scenes in which Christianity was mocked and ridiculed, which we deeply regret,\u201d<\/em> the Bishops\u2019 Conference said in a statement on Saturday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe thank the members of other religious denominations who have expressed their solidarity with us,\u201d<\/em> the statement continued. \u201cThis morning we think of all Christians on all continents who have been hurt by the exaggeration and provocation of some scenes.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n e<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Transgender Olympic \u2018Last Supper parody\u2019 sparks outrage (VIDEOS)<\/a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n The ceremony was condemned by Christians and conservatives around the world. Bishop Robert Barron of Minnesota called the performance a \u201cgross mockery of the Last Supper,\u201d<\/em> while Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini declared that \u201copening the Olympics by insulting billions of Christians across the world was a really bad start\u201d<\/em> for France. <\/p>\n\n\n\n SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk described the spectacle as \u201cextremely disrespectful to Christians,\u201d<\/em> while tech entrepreneur Dr. Eli David wrote that \u201ceven as a Jew,\u201d<\/em> he was \u201cinfuriated by this outrageous insult to Jesus and Christianity.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Olympic organizers have defended the opening show. \u201cWe imagined a ceremony to show our values and our principles so we gave a very committed message,\u201d<\/em> Paris 2024 President Tony Estanguet told reporters on Saturday. \u201cThe idea was to really trigger a reflection. We wanted to have a message as strong as possible.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOur idea was inclusion,\u201d<\/em> added Thomas Jolly, the ceremony\u2019s artistic director. \u201cWe wanted to talk about diversity. Diversity means being together.
