More than 100 Syrians Take Over Fredericton Howard Johnson — Secrecy Rules<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n


\n<\/span>Canadians pay and are kept in the dark. The press isn’t allowed near the latest crowd of Syrian “refugees” ensconced at the Howard Johnson’s in Fredericton. The authorities and the multiculti organizers are keeping the press away. The Canadian taxpayers must pay but are not entitled to know the facts much less have a say. “Lisa Bamford, executive director of the Multicultural Association of F<\/span>redericton, which is in charge of the project, described the refugees as\u00a0<\/span><\/span>‘vulnerable people’ whose privacy must be protected. ‘They are not commodities,” she said Tuesday as dozens of men, women and children milled about the lobby of the resort on the Saint John River. ‘We
\nhave to respect and protect their privacy.’<\/p>\n

Bamford declined to say how many refugees were staying at the resort, where
\nthey came from, how long they were expected to stay or how many more were
\nexpected to arrive.”<\/span>
\n<\/span>The insolence of the immigration industry! What privacy? The Syrians chose to accept Canada’s charity. And they can’t grant an interview. “Vulnerable people”? How? they are safe in Canada. Note the average family has five children! Likely these people will impose an even heavier burden on the Canadian taxpayer. “Vulnerable people”? The only victims here are the Canadian taxpayers!<\/span>

\nresort hotel west of Fredericton in the past week, but the group in charge
\nisn’t saying how long they will stay or how many more are expected.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, a local media report said that as of last Wednesday,
\ndozens of Syrian refugees were arriving daily at the 14-hectare resort,
\nwhich is typically experiencing slow business at this time of year.<\/p>\n

General manager Shane Hashemi told the Fredericton Gleaner<\/span><\/b> there were 90
\nrefugees at the resort by last weekend and up to 250 in total were expected
\nto arrive in the days ahead, filling the hotel to capacity.<\/p>\n

Hashemi said extra cribs and playpens were brought in because the average
\nfamily has an average of five children in tow. He is also quoted as saying
\nsecurity guards were hired to make sure the children don’t go near the river
\nor the highway.<\/p>\n

The secrecy at the resort stands in contrast to the very public displays
\nthat Canadians have witnessed in recent months as thousands of refugees have
\nbeen welcomed to 260 communities across the country.<\/p>\n

On Dec. 11, 2015, the first group of Syrian refugees airlifted to Canada
\nchecked in to their Toronto hotel, but not before they were met by Prime
\nMinister Justin Trudeau, Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne and a large group of
\nreporters and photographers.<\/p>\n

Immigration Minister John McCallum was at Toronto’s Pearson airport Feb. 29
\nas the last two government-arranged refugee flights arrived as part of the
\nLiberals’ $678-million settlement plan.<\/p>\n

Some settlement agencies have said housing remains the biggest challenge.
\nCharities providing furniture to the refugees, meanwhile, have said they
\nstruggle to keep up with demand.<\/p>\n

In late February, the federal government issued a tender for 150 hotel rooms
\nin Fredericton area to house refugees.<\/p>\n

As of March 1, 26,166 refugees have arrived in Canada, according to the
\nfederal government.<\/p>\n

The Canadian government reached its goal of bringing 25,000 Syrian refugees
\nto Canada by the end of February, but more are expected to arrive in the
\nmonths ahead. The government pledged to resettle a total of 25,000
\ngovernment-assisted Syrians by the end of the year, and have about 10,000
\nmore to bring.<\/p>\n

Nancy Caron, a spokeswoman with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship
\nCanada, said refugees’ stay in temporary accommodations can vary from days
\nto several weeks.<\/p>\n

Caron said more than 60% of government-supported Syrian refugees nationally
\nare now living in permanent accommodations, and that will increase quickly
\nnow that the flow of new arrivals is slowing.<\/p>\n

An estimated 4.7 million Syrians have registered as refugees since the
\noutbreak of the Syrian civil war in 2011, but the UN refugee agency is not
\nseeking permanent new homes for that many.<\/p>\n

The UN has reached out to countries to take in the refugees and only Germany
\nhas made more official spaces formally available than Canada.<\/p>\n
