Universal Basic Income (UBI) isn\u2019t freedom\u2014it\u2019s a costly, centralized distraction. It weakens motivation, inflates markets, and places an unsustainable burden on working Canadians. Most dangerously, it shifts decision-making from voters to unelected elites<\/strong> who want to dictate how we live, what we earn, and what we can own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A livable UBI in Canada would cost tens of billions annually<\/strong>, potentially doubling federal spending<\/strong>.
This isn\u2019t theoretical\u2014BC\u2019s Basic Income Panel<\/strong> confirmed the math. And the funding? It comes from your taxes<\/strong>\u2014diverted from critical services, or worse, added to our already crushing debt. Government handouts don\u2019t come from magic\u2014they come from your pocket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"📉\" 2. Weakens Work Incentives<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

UBI undermines the link between effort and reward<\/strong>.

UBI gives the same amount<\/strong> to millionaires and single parents alike.
That\u2019s not fairness\u2014it\u2019s fiscal irresponsibility. We already have tools that target help where it\u2019s actually needed. UBI wastes billions on people who don\u2019t need support while short-changing those who do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"🛠\" 5. Doesn\u2019t Fix Real Problems<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

UBI doesn\u2019t address why people fall through the cracks.
It doesn\u2019t build job skills. It doesn\u2019t improve healthcare access. It doesn\u2019t help people overcome addiction or trauma. Studies show no measurable improvements in education, job quality, or health<\/strong>\u2014and the mental-health gains fade within a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
