CBC\u2019s Wawmeesh Hamilton explores how the community is paving the way for others as it faces the tough revelations that come with searching for answers<\/em><em>===================================================================<\/em><em>ALSO:<\/em><em>Excellent article including many photos of work being done ther e<\/em>DECIDING TO DIG<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/newsinteractives\/features\/pine-creeks-search\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/newsinteractives\/features\/pine-creeks-search<\/a>This Manitoba First Nations Band actually proceeded with an excavation\u00a0after going through the Ground Penetrating Radar shtick.In this case they\u00a0 focussed on the Church basement\u00a0 and sent in an\u00a0archeological team to excavate\u00a0and determine if any human\u00a0remains\u00a0existed.<br>THEY FOUND????\u00a0 <strong>NOTHING ..NO BODIES<\/strong>except\u00a0&#8220;anomalies like rocks etc.There are numerous cemeteries\u00a0that\u00a0contain White and Indigenous\u00a0 graves that have been abandoned, weeds growing and markers rot away etc.<br>Contrast\u00a0this with Kamloops Band $12+ Million given and no excavation\u00a0performed while\u00a0alleging the site has 215 UNmarked graves.William Lake\u00a0Band was given $8 MILLION and no\u00a0excavations.However&#8230;No accountability.<br>I was impressed with\u00a0the Manitoba band. They accepted the\u00a0findings.(<em> but in all likelihood embarassed.)<\/em><em>However..they may be trying to expand the search according to one report.<\/em><em>The Feds have allocated a fund of $320 Million to these FN groups to dip into.<\/em>Regardless&#8230;this case should set a precedent\u00a0that ALL First Nations bands that go through this Unmarked grave accusation\/ investigation exercise.
