In the Middle Ages, peasants were forbidden to hunt deer or boar. Why? Because the king wanted the venison, and because bows in the hands of peasants could just as easily kill a noble as a stag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fast forward a few centuries and the costume has changed: crowns have been swapped for Patagonia vests and private jets, but the script is identical. Today\u2019s climate aristocracy scolds you for eating beef, demands you bike to work, and insists you don\u2019t need a gun. Deer, boar, and swan were \u201croyal animals.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Peasants caught poaching could be fined, mutilated, even executed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The rule wasn\u2019t about ecology \u2014 it was about <strong>prestige and control<\/strong>. New)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Restrict food (then: venison, now: beef).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Restrict weapons (then: bows, now: guns).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Restrict travel (then: forest access, now: flights &amp; cars and our first climate lockdown, no forest for you Nova Scotia and New Brunswick).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Preserve privilege (then: castles, now: gated estates and jets).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"&#x1f3f0;\" src=\"https:\/\/fonts.gstatic.com\/s\/e\/notoemoji\/16.0\/1f3f0\/32.png\"> Feudalism 2.0 in Plain Sight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The peasants of old knew the truth: <em>rules were for them, privileges for the elite.<\/em> We\u2019re relearning that lesson.
