The centre-left Labor Party, which has a majority in the lower house, did not run a candidate for the seat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s very clear, the next member for Farrer is David Farley,\u201d ABC election analyst Casey Briggs said \u2060in a broadcast. \u201cIt\u2019s not a close result.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"one-nation-at-the-end-of-its-beginning\">One Nation at \u2018the end of its beginning\u2019<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Farley, who has advocated for reduced migration and farming reforms, will hold the vacant seat left by the resignation in February of Sussan Ley, leader of the centre-right Liberal Party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The result marks the first time One Nation, founded by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2019\/3\/28\/australian-senator-suggests-worst-gun-massacre-was-a-conspiracy\">politician Pauline Hanson<\/a>, has won a \u2060lower house seat in its 30-year history. Be the first to know when big stories happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Farley\u2019s victory does little to affect the balance in the lower house of parliament, where the Labor Party holds 94 of 150 seats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the victory is in line with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/9\/1\/clashes-in-australias-melbourne-as-thousands-rally-against-immigration\">growing electoral support<\/a> for far-right populist parties globally.
