{"id":749,"date":"2017-02-18T05:52:43","date_gmt":"2017-02-18T05:52:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/canadafirst.nfshost.com\/?p=749"},"modified":"2017-02-18T05:52:43","modified_gmt":"2017-02-18T05:52:43","slug":"refugees-who-fled-war-use-welfare-to-holiday-in-homelands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadafirst.nfshost.com\/?p=749","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Refugees&#8221; Who \u2018Fled War\u2019 Use Welfare to Holiday in Homelands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>&#8220;Refugees&#8221; Who\u00a0\u2018Fled War\u2019\u00a0Use Welfare to\u00a0Holiday\u00a0in Homelands<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>by<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/author\/vhale\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/author\/vhale\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1487482451341000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFkF-6oHk8IKN8ivIMzo8ujeTVDOw\">Virginia Hale<\/a>25 Jan 2017<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Migrants granted leave to remain in Switzerland on the basis that they risk death in their homelands are using welfare money to fund holidays back home, the\u00a0<em><em>Basler Zeitung<\/em><\/em>\u00a0reports.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Swiss newspaper\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/bazonline.ch\/schweiz\/standard\/eritreer-machen-heimaturlaub\/story\/28502813\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=http:\/\/bazonline.ch\/schweiz\/standard\/eritreer-machen-heimaturlaub\/story\/28502813&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1487482451341000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFWHWFyvIHV1k2UuHx7q7w3wu-Ldg\">notes<\/a>\u00a0that thousands of migrants each year are heading to\u00a0Eritrea\u00a0for their holidays each year despite their having supposedly fled the northeast African nation in fear of their lives.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Although a large proportion of Eritreans in\u00a0Switzerland\u00a0have been refused asylum, authorities are powerless to deport them because their homelands are deemed to be too dangerous by the country\u2019s refugee policy.<\/p>\n<p>While there are no direct flights to\u00a0Eritrea, the Basler Zeitung says it found that up to fifty people a day are leaving\u00a0Switzerland\u00a0in order to holiday in the African country.<\/p>\n<p>It typically costs around 599 Swiss Francs (\u00a3475) in January or 650 Swiss Francs (\u00a3516) in high season for a return journey to\u00a0Eritrea\u00a0according to the German language daily, which notes that taxpayer stipends to migrants must be quite generous as the vast majority of Eritreans residing inSwitzerland\u00a0live on welfare.<\/p>\n<p>Stating it to be unlikely that more than a small handful of migrants would \u201cabuse the asylum system\u201d, the Swiss Secretariat for Migration (SEM) told the Basler Zeitung that it\u2019s difficult to work out the number of Eritreans who are taking holidays in their country of origin due to the lack of direct flights.<\/p>\n<p>Of the nearly 50,000 applications to travel abroad filed by refugees, asylum seekers and people in\u00a0Switzerland\u00a0who have temporary residence permits between 2010 and 2014, 97.5 per cent were successful.<\/p>\n<p>Noting that around 15,0000 of these passes were granted to Eritreans, the<em><em>Basler Zeitung<\/em><\/em>\u00a0asks whether the sheer volume of migrants venturing back to the northeast African country suggests it is really \u201ca mere matter of individual cases\u201d, or whether it implies the situation is a \u201cmass occurring phenomenon\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In September Breitbart London\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/london\/2016\/09\/12\/refugees-holiday-countries-fled\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/london\/2016\/09\/12\/refugees-holiday-countries-fled\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1487482451341000&amp;usg=AFQjCNECW5hsQCd-dU6yKjCpbFlq_HFVCw\">reported<\/a>\u00a0that migrants granted asylum inGermany\u00a0have been using welfare payments to holiday in the countries they fled, again supposedly in fear of their lives.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The idea of using welfare funds to send to\u00a0and for visits to the homeland, is old news.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mexico<\/strong><strong>\u00a0receives US$ from Mexican immigrants and illegals\u00a0and it\u00a0is considered one of their\u00a0biggest sources of income.
