The Trashing of Canadian History to Help Usher in Our Replacement

The Trashing of Canadian History to Help Usher in Our Replacement

The removal or desecration of statues on Canadian historical heroes is part of a psychological attack on the European founding/settler people of this country. The authorities have done little to the wrecking crew. Some cowardly self-haters like the City of Victoria have given in to the wrecking crew and removed the statue of the founder of our country Sir John A. Macdonald. Some will fault find and critique these heroes of the past. Sir John A. was hostile to Chinese immigration. So, too, were most Canadians at the time. Applying today’s politically correct sentiments misses the point. These men and women are being honoured for what they contributed or accomplished, not because they were saints.

Justin Trudeau’s habit of issuing fulsome apologies and buckets of cash to alleged victims of Canada’s past — the Komagata Maru, turning away the Jews on the St. Louis in 1939, etc. — leaves the impression that Old Stock Canada was a morally bereft country AND not worth preserving. If our history was rotten and our heroes all rotters, why should we seek to preserve ourselves and resist being replacement in the carefully organized Great Replacement of Canada’s European founding/settler people through mass Third World immigration

Attached are some random photos I found on  the Internet.. Included with them are photos of PERUVIAN NATIONAL,  MIGUEL AVILA VELARDE pictured with his local native militant friend, SKYLER WILLIAMS , in which the are gloating after the destruction of the  EGERTON RYERSON statue .  They destroyed it, with hammers, crowbars and a grinder….  WHY WERE THESE TWO NOT SENT TO JAIL???    THE EVIDENCE IS RIGHT THERE.

VELARDE was later involved in pulling down  and damaging the JOHN A MACDONALD STATUE , by WADE,. in HAMILTON…… IF HE HAS BEEN IN JAIL, WHERE HE BELONGS, HE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO THIS.   NEXT,  VELARDE JUST RAN FOR CITY COUNCIL IN WARD 13 !     This is so strange you could not dream it up ! Why was he not charged? Why is he not forcefully confronted and told, “if you think the country YOU chose to immigrate to is so racist, why did you not stay in Peru?

Doug Ford complained of the “desecration”  of the Terry Fox statue  in OTTAWA (someone draped a Canadian flag over it during the Freedom Convoy protests). Has he denounced the desecration of other statues or taken steps to protect and re-exhibit the Macdonald statue in Queen’s Park in 2020?It has been encased in plywood. It should be reopened and a permanent guard stationed there.

(The lettering on Mackenzie King is added and based on his quoted statements)….

The statue of the great educator Egerton Ryerson toppled. The foreigner who heads Ryerson University will not restore the statue and has changed the institution’s name to Metropolitan U.

Do Canadians really want every April to be “Sikh Heritage Month”?

Do Canadians really want every April to be “Sikh Heritage Month”?

by Dan Murray, Immigration Watch Canada – April 3, 2022

://immigrationwatchcanada.org/2022/04/03/do-canadians-really-want-every-april-to-be-sikh-heritage-month/

Most Canadians are completely unaware that Canada’s Parliament passed a motion two years ago to make every April “Sikh Heritage Month”. The one big questions many Canadians probably ask  is this: “What have the Sikhs done to deserve a whole month being set aside for them.

Disgracefully, no MP’s abstained or voted against the motion.   Ironically,  the behaviour of some of the earliest Sikhs to arrive in Canada (aboard a Japanese-named ship called the Panama Maru in 1913) was a foreshadowing and a warning of  massive Sikh abuse of Canada’s immigration laws. It demonstrated Sikh willingness to use fraudulent documents. It also showed their arrogant attitude: They believed that they had a right to enter Canada and that Canada had no right to oppose their entry. There are many honest and humble Sikhs, but  many  believe the same thing today. The Panama Maru incident in 1913 also  helps to explain much of what happened in the much larger Komagata Maru incident in 1914.

Today, Sikhs repeatedly use the Komagata Maru event to proclaim that they were victims and that Canada has to atone to them by removing all barriers to Sikh immigration.  In their whining, they omit many facts including the uncomfortable fact that they assassinated a Canadian immigration agent who had opposed them in 1914.  They also omit the extremely important fact that Gurdit Singh (the leader of the Komagata Maru expedition) boasted that if he succeeded in landing the 300+ Komagata Maru passengers in Vancouver, he would bring 25,000 more Sikhs soon after. This threat alarmed Canadians in 1914 because if it were to come true, it would have greatly changed Vancouver’s entire cultural make-up.

To show some context, consider this: around 1914, the City of Vancouver had a population of about 60,000. For details of the entire KM incident, see https://immigrationwatchcanada.org/2008/05/22/the-voyage-of-the-komagata-maru-a-review-and-a-short-summary/   Here are some details of The Panama Maru incident of 1913:  The ship called the Panama Maru carried 56 East Indians to Canada. Most of the passengers on that ship had not lived in Canada previously, but falsely claimed that they had. They produced fake money order receipts, time cards, etc. in order to enter Canada. Immigration authorities allowed 17 to land (those physically recognized to have been here before), but they detained 39 of the 56.

A Board of Inquiry looked into the case and ordered that the 39 be deported. However, litigious East Indians in Canada determined to make the Panama Maru case a test case which, if won, would open Canada’s border to a flood of Sikhs and other East Indians. The lawyer for the East Indians,  J.Edward Bird, appeared before Justice Dennis Murphy, the author of a Royal Commission which had investigated Chinese Immigration Fraud. He ruled against the East Indians. Undaunted, Bird then went to Chief Justice Gordon Hunter, who was notorious for appearing drunk in court and who was a clear embarrassment to the government. Hunter allowed the 39 to stay. Worse still, 4 of the 39 who had been ordered deported for medical reasons, escaped from detention and could not be found. After this humiliating incident, Canadian immigration authorities undoubtedly resolved not to let the Sikhs humiliate them again, particularly those who arrived on the Komagata Maru months later.

Although many years of Sikh immigration peace followed, the Singh Decision of 1985 changed that and signaled the beginning of run-away, Sikh-caused refugee and immigration chaos in Canada. Between 1977 and 1981, six citizens of India (all Sikhs with the surname Singh) plus a Guyanese citizen of Indian heritage, made separate refugee claims in Canada. This should have been seen as another warning. In making their claims, the Sikhs continued a Sikh pattern of using litigation to break down any barriers to Sikh entry to Canada. Initially, all seven were denied entry, but they used a loophole in Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms (particularly the definition of the word “everyone” to include non-Canadians such as them) and remained in Canada. In doing so, they turned Canada’s refugee system into a quasi-judicial body which soon became mired in tens of thousands of claims (most of them illegitimate).

http://immigrationwatchcanada.org/2005/03/23/the-1985-singh-decision-disaster-vs-the-1985-air-india-disaster/   The most serious sin the Sikhs have committed in Canada was their bombing of Air India Flight 182. This resulted in the  murder of 329 people. This was the largest mass murder in Canadian history. It is also the only thing that many Canadians think of when they hear the word “Sikh”. Almost all of the Sikhs involved have not been punished.

The damage the Sikhs have done to Canada does not stop there.  The cost of refugee claims has been very high. That alone should have moved many MP’s to  abstain in the voting for “Sikh Heritage Month”  or to vote against proclaiming April “Sikh Heritage Month”.  But disgracefully, it did not.   For details about Sikh heritage to Canada,  watch this film about the Sikh bombing of Air India Flight 182 and the murder of 329 people: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_India_182_(film)

Vancouver City Council Must Retract Its Recent Apology for the Komagata Maru Incident

Vancouver City Council Must Retract Its Recent Apology for the Komagata Maru Incident

Dan Murray, Immigration Watch Canada – June 15, 2020 http://immigrationwatchcanada.org/2020/06/15/15176/

The Covid19 crisis has produced one major benefit for Canada: It has spared us from celebrating “Sikh Heritage Month” in April. In an act of extreme degradation, Parliament passed that law over a year ago. Last week, Vancouver City Council added to Canadian political foolishness by trying to “curry” favour with the Sikhs: It apologized to the Sikhs for the Komagata Maru incident. Like most politicians, Vancouver City Councillors are poorly informed about the Komagata Maru incident and almost all immigration-related incidents.

Here is some factual background on that incident for the enlightenment of Vancouver City Council and all of Canada’s politicians.

The Komagata Maru incident was preceded by the Panama Maru incident of late 1913. The Panama Maru incident helps to explain much of what happened in the Komagata Maru incident of 1914.

On October 17, 1913, the Japanese-registered ship called the Panama Maru docked In Vancouver with 56 Sikh East Indians aboard. Canada accepted East Indians who had previously been accepted and had lived in Canada. However, most of the passengers on the Panama Maru had not lived in Canada previously, but claimed that they had. They produced fraudulent money order receipts, time cards, etc. to “substantiate” their claims. Immigration authorities allowed 17 (those physically recognized to have been in Canada before) to land, but they detained 39 of the 56.

A Board of Inquiry looked into the case and ordered the 39 to be deported, but litigious East Indians in Canada determined to make the Panama Maru case a test case. Their lawyer, J. Edward Bird, appeared before Justice Dennis Murphy, but Murphy denied their claim. Bird then went to Chief Justice Gordon Hunter, notorious for appearing drunk in court. He was a clear embarrassment to the government. Hunter upheld the East Indian appeal on a technicality, so most of the 39 were released. The remaining 4, who had previously been ordered deported for medical reasons, escaped from detention and could not be found.

The Panama Maru incident was a big embarrassment to the federal government. It also showed both the federal and British Columbia governments that immigration fraud was continuing and that much stronger measures had to be taken. Immigration authorities became determined, if possible, to avoid the courts and the threat of escape from detention.

Gurdit Singh, the man who organized the Komagata Maru voyage, had enjoyed litigation success against Britain in Singapore and was confident that he could repeat the success in Canada. In fact, despite the warnings of British officials, he boasted to British authorities in Hong Kong (the port from which the Komagata Maru departed for Canada) that he would challenge the Canadian government in court and that after he had succeeded, he would bring up to 25,000 labourers from India to Canada. This was an economic threat to unemployed Canadians. In May of 1914, Canada was in the midst of a recession, with very high unemployment. It was also a cultural threat. In 1914, Vancouver, the port where the Sikhs would land, had a population of about 60,000+. An inflow of 25,000 Sikhs would have set off cultural alarms of being overwhelmed. Later in Japan, Singh added another threat. He said that if he did not get his way, 10,000 Indian troops (mostly Sikhs) would rebel against the British in India. At that time, the Sikhs did not appreciate colonization by Britain. Today, Canadians do not appreciate colonization by the Punjab. They also do not appreciate current immigration fraud.

As Gurdit Singh would quickly discover, 1914 was not a wise time to make immigration threats and to launch a test case for Sikh labourers.

komagata maru.jpg

To compound the situation, the memory of extensive Chinese and Japanese immigration fraud over many years was still fresh in the minds of British Columbians. See this link:

To put the matter bluntly but truthfully, Vancouver City Council’s apology for the Komagata Maru incident is yet another example of how Canada’s politicians have once again descended into the most degrading acts of political sodomy and boot-licking.

Our disgraceful CBC and many of Canada’s politicians are proud to engage in such activity, but to differentiate itself from such degenerates and to demonstrate it has even a sliver of dignity, Vancouver City Council should immediately do the following:

(1) Retract Its Apology for the Komagata Maru incident

(2) Take measures to get the names of the Sikh criminals who are responsible for the Air India bombing and who remain protected by other Sikhs and unconvicted. That event was the largest mass murder (329 Canadians) in Canada’s history and, until resolved, it is the event that most Canadians will forever remember Sikhs for. It is almost certain that some Sikh MP’s, MLA’s and B.C. Municipal Councillors know the names of the Sikh murderers.

David Atkinson’s Argument Against Martin Collacott is Pure Defamatory Trash

David Atkinson’s Argument Against Martin Collacott is Pure Defamatory Trash
Martin Collacott, Old School Canadian, Facts and Analysis

David Atkinson’s article, “White supremacists ideas revived in Collacott oped,” spews out one defamatory label after another against Martin Collacott’s June 5 editorial, “Canada replacing its population a case of wilful ignorance, greed, excess political correctness,” without caring to offer one single fact-based, analytically constructed argument.

Collacot effectively condensed in his article the following empirically oriented claims:

  1. that according to professor Eric Kaufmann, “almost seven out of 10 Vancouver residents will be visible minorities within two generations and 80 per cent of the Canadian population (compared to 20 per cent today) will be non-white in less than century.”
  2. that the cost of mass immigration “is huge — with latest estimates indicating taxpayers have to underwrite recent arrivals to the tune of around $30 billion annually.”
  3. that Vancouverites have been “crowded out of the housing market by sky-high prices caused largely by the ceaseless flow of new arrivals.”
  4. that “the quality of life of most residents is negatively affected by increased traffic and commute times, along with congestion and pressure on the health care and education systems.”
  5. that “we are not facing looming labour shortages that we can’t meet with our existing workforce and educational infrastructure. Immigration, moreover, does not provide a realistic means of dealing with the costs associated with the aging of our population.”
  6. that we should consider the fact that those who advocate mass immigration may be doing so for their own personal or political benefits rather than Canada’s economic and cultural well being. The “benefit from continued high immigration include leaders of political parties bent on expanding their political base.”
  7. that these beneficiaries also include “leaders of immigrant organizations eager to expand their support base and influence,” as well as “developers who want an endless supply of new homebuyers and are major funders of politicians and parties — particularly at the municipal level”.
  8. that Canada did benefit in the past from periods of high levels of immigration, and that “a moderate degree of diversity can make society more vibrant” [but] — “it is quite a different matter when it develops to a level where it overwhelms and largely replaces the existing population”
  9. that “many will bring with them values and traditions that may differ in key respects from those of most Canadians, such as gender equality and concern for protection of the environment.”
  10. that “Canadians deserve a full and informed public debate on the extent to which immigration policy will determine the future of the country. This should form the basis for a sensible public policy based on the long-term interests of the existing population, rather than those of special interest groups.”

Atkinson, who is an academic at Purdue University, does not tackle a single one of these empirically oriented claims, but instead unleashes one vitriolic claim after another, starting with the title which identifies Collacott as a “white supremacist.” The first sentence then calls Collacott’s argument “chauvinistic” and “white supremacist” again. The second sentence says that Collacott’s argument is nothing but a “thinly veiled invocation of ‘Yellow Peril’ rhetoric”. The third sentence dismisses all the claims by Collacott as “antiquated racial ideas”. The fourth and fifth sentences accuse Collacott of reviving arguments for a “White Canada” in the manner of the “anti-Asian exclusion movement in B.C. (and elsewhere) during the early 20th century.”

The sixth sentence equates Collacott’s argument with those who warned in the early 1900s of a “rising tide of oriental immigration.” In each of the next three sentences all we find are the phrases “widespread fear of impending white elimination,” “the irrational fear of an overwhelming Asian influx,” ” Komagata Maru.” The tenth sentence brings up again the word the never heard phrase “white supremacists,” and the eleventh sentence accuses Collacott of using a label, “white genocide,” “derived from the writings of convicted murderer David Lane”. The same eleventh sentence claims that Collacott is merely trafficking in “alt-right… simplistic meme-driven distortions of history, ethnicity, and identity.”

Cultural Marxist School Canadian: Facts and Analysis don’t matter; only defamatory labels do.

Professor Atkinson, how about one argument against the claims of Collacott? Well, in the twelfth sentence he finally brings up one argument  (#9 above), but only to dismiss it as the “same kind of disingenuousness favoured by alt-right activists.” The next sentence accuses, again, Collacott of echoing “his predecessors and the modern alt-right in blaming” those who benefit from mass immigration.

Strange yet true: academics today don’t like it when you blame political leaders, bureaucrats, developers, and special interest groups. Atkinson, it should be noted, has made a a career out of promoting immigration and calling anyone who disagrees with him a “racist.” His “forthcoming book” is entitled The Burdens of White Supremacy: Containing Asian Labor Migration in the British Empire and the United States.

The last three paragraphs of his article more or less repeat the same labels while identifying Collacott with the “white supremacist” exclusionary activists of a century ago, “defending the whiteness of British Columbia.” His conclusion is more of the same: “in reality, Collacott’s commentary squarely reiterates these previous champions of white supremacy.”

There you have it, ladies and gentleman, this is the trash that passes for scholarship among leftist professors who can’t think for themselves, who can’t engage in analysis, in open inquiry, but only in accusations and defamatory statements.

The little bit that can be categorized as historically minded in Atkinson’s article is fundamentally wrong. Essentially, what Atkinson tries to do is equate any objections with immigration today with objections a century ago, which is rather odd for a supposed historian to do, since one of the cardinal lessons in the historical profession is to learn how to judge each historical period on its own terms, to be aware that history is not static, and that immigration patterns, and cultural settings, over a hundred years ago cannot be equated with immigration realities today. Collacott distinctly makes this distinction, stating that he understands that Canada has benefited from immigration in the past. Collacott is only asking for our elites to take seriously the 10 points outlined above. He knows that Canadians are not being allowed to debate this issue openly.

It is truly a disgrace that a professor who is supposed to be a firm believer in freedom of expression and critical thinking, has decided to close off all debate with the extremist use of one defamatory label after another.

Atkinson writes that “Collacott nostalgically yearns for an imagined homogenous past that only ever existed in the minds of the province’s most obstinate white supremacists.” This criticism is common among our poorly educated academics. It is flat out wrong, as late as 1971, Canada was over 96 percent White! Deceiving your students is not a good thing. Let’s have an open debate based on historical facts and empirically verifiable statements, rather than rely on trashy labels.

Crude Sikhs Should Be Apologizing to Canada

Crude Sikhs Should Be Apologizing to Canada

A group of crude Sikhs has hijacked the entire Sikh group and has succeeded in getting our naive Prime Minister to announce that he will formally apologize to Sikhs in Parliament on May 18, 2016. The apology is supposedly for denying Sikhs the right to enter Canada in the Komagata Maru incident of 1914.

Frederick Fromm's photo.

If anything should happen on May 18, crude Sikhs should apologize to Canada. Here are more reasons why :

(1) Uninformed Sikhs refuse to recognize that Western countries had no obligation in 1914 (nor do they have in 2016) to accept the excess populations of India (as well as of China and Japan). For example, around 1900, China had around 400 million people, was overpopulated and poor and was sending workers overseas.  Japan was doing the same. Of the three countries, only Japan admitted that Canada had a right to defend itself, particularly its unemployed, from unnecessary job competition.  China was in political chaos and had little control over its workers. Ironically, China and India eventually got rid of their colonizers and re-gained their independence. In contrast, Canada, after developing a society which until the late 1970’s was the envy of many countries, has since allowed itself to be colonized by such models of civilization as China and India’s Punjab. Douglas Todd of The Vancouver Sun has described the behaviour of recent Chinese as parasitic. A large group of Sikhs has behaved in the same way.

(2) Parasitic behaviour is not the only issue. In 1985, a group of  Sikhs committed the greatest mass murder in Canadian history (329 people killed when Sikhs bombed an Air India plane).  Thanks to a culture of intimidation of witnesses, the Sikhs who committed the mass murder, have never been convicted—– in spite of Canada spending around $130 Million to prosecute them. When a Surrey Sikh publisher probed too much into the Air India bombing, he was shot, paralyzed and finally murdered. That bombing, not the 911 Muslim attacks,  caused the first mass security checks at Canadian airports. Are all the airport delays and costs of screening (some of which are now done by Sikhs !!!) that resulted from Sikh bombings to be thought of  as a benefit to Canada of immigration?  In the entire world, that Sikh bombing is second only to the 911 attacks in scale of people killed in airplane terrorism.  Furthermore, if Sikh conspirators had been successful in detonating another bomb on a plane leaving Japan, the death toll through Sikh air plane terrorism would have been even higher.  It takes enormous arrogance for some Sikhs to now pressure our government to apologize to them when this mass murder firmly placed them in the category of some of Canada’s worst immigrants. If any apology should be made, it should be crude Sikhs apologizing to Canada

(3) The shameful story does not stop there. Not long after former Prime Minister Jean Chretien opened a new consulate in the Punjabi city of Chandigarh in 2003 as a reward to Sikhs for voting for him,  a Canadian consul official, witnessed a huge amount of fraud at that Consulate. In fact, he described the consulate as the fraud capital of all Canadian Embassies / Consulates in the world.  But Canadians don’t have to go back to PM Chretien  for precedents of  a PM corruptly “paying-off” Sikhs.  Prime Minister Trudeau recently appointed four Sikhs to his 30 member Cabinet. That means Sikhs, who represent about 1% of Canada’s population, comprise about 13% of Trudeau’s Cabinet.  The overall intention of the crudest of the Sikhs is to have Canada maintain or increase its immigration intake. Trudeau has obliged by yet another “pay-off”. For 2016, Trudeau has increased Canada’s immigration intake to over 300,000—a significant number of whom will be elderly Sikhs who will be a burden on Canada’s healthcare system. In addition, Immigration Minister John McCallum, who has ironically and wrongly stated that Canada needs high immigration because of its aging population, has stated that immigration will rise even more in 2017 !!! It is no exaggeration to say that Canada’s contingent of crude and aggressive Sikhs believe they have Trudeau on his knees and that they believe he will commit even more degrading acts for their votes.

(4) The crude Sikh saga continues to this day in the Surrey area of Metro Vancouver. Surrey is notorious for a large number of shootings and drug trafficking offences. Young Sikhs have long been disproportionately represented in this criminal activity. Politicians say that they need more police, but the real answer is that Surrey needs less crude Sikh (and Somali) immigration.

(5) And that’s not the end of the story. The Sikhs have used intimidation to get exemptions for wearing a turban and carrying a kirpan. They know that a turban is not compulsory in their religion, yet they have duped many Canadians into believing it is. Similar intimidation / aggressive demands have resulted in Sikhs being allowed to carry a knife (the kirpan) into Parliament, other legislatures and public places. Recently, a Quebec high school student was expelled for having a jackknife in his backpack. He had used the knife to do his farm chores. Meanwhile, other Sikh students carry kirpans to school every day and go unchallenged.

(6) When Canada seeks to get rid of Sikh law violators, crude Sikhs rise to the occasion. Canadians should recall the case of  Laibar Singh, a Sikh who had made a fraudulent refugee claim and been ordered deported. On the day scheduled for his deportation, hundreds of Sikhs demonstrated at the Vancouver Airport and intimidated enforcement officers into abandoning their efforts to deport this man. Canada eventually succeeded in getting rid of Laibar Singh, but not before having to put up with this disgraceful and shameless display of Sikhs championing fraud. That display has been accompanied by a disproportionate amount of other refugee fraud and marriage fraud—-all of which demonstrate that crude Sikhs have outright contempt for Canada and that they have become so emboldened that they believe they can get away not just with mass murder, but almost anything.

(7) The economic damage that many Canadians have suffered from unnecessary Sikh and other ethnic immigration is huge. For example, low-wage Sikh truck drivers have forced most Canadians out of the trucking industry in British Columbia. When the Sikhs later discovered that they could not live on the undercut wages they received, they staged a lengthy strike which cost the Port of Vancouver millions of dollars. By cheating, Sikhs have also taken over much of the detached house construction industry in B.C.  According to former Sikh MP Ujjal Dosanjh, “Several years ago a report on the front page of the Vancouver Sun stated that close to a billion dollars of unaccounted and undeclared money was circulating in the construction industry in Surrey. Such massive fraud did not elicit even a peep from the usually loud public voices. It was well-known that almost all of the residential and a portion of the commercial construction was in the hands of Indo-Canadians. Complete silence reigned in the political sphere.”.The “Indo-Canadians” Dosanjh referred to were crude  Sikhs. Like other Asian immigrants, the Sikhs have compounded the problem of unnecessary immigration by pressuring government and private industry to give hiring preference to Sikhs and other Asians.

We repeat : Canada’s Sikh population has been hijacked by a crude, grasping element which is exploiting Canada. It is long overdue for PM Trudeau and all of our other politicians to give this crude collection the back of their hands, investigate them, put them behind bars or deport them.

We repeat : The skepticism Canadians felt toward aggressive Sikh migrants on the Komagata Maru in 1914 has been shown to have been justified. Sikhs should be apologizing to Canada. Canada should never apologize to them. — IMMIGRATION WATCH CANADA

Don’t Apologize To The Sikhs—Part 1

Prime Minister Trudeau has recently announced that on May 18 he will make an apology in Parliament to Sikhs. Most of the 376 Sikhs aboard a ship called the Komagata Maru were denied entry to Canada in 1914. According to aggressive Sikhs, Canada had no justification for doing this. Undoubtedly, a number of other Sikhs are cringing at Trudeau's announcement because they believe that the incident was much more complicated than the picture a group of Sikhs claim it was. They also think the Sikhs have already received an apology and that endless, aggressive Sikh demands are alienating most Canadians.

Most Canadians, including our Prime Minister, know little about the Komagata Maru issue. We offer the following facts to inform Mr. Trudeau and other Canadians of the historical record in 1914 and of numerous other shameless recent Sikh actions.

(1) Gurdit Singh, the leader of the Komagata Maru voyage, had successfully challenged British authorities in a Singapore court on an unrelated matter. His victory gave him confidence that he could get Canada to accept his 376 passengers. In fact, he boasted to authorities that after landing his 376 mostly Sikh passengers, he would take another 25,000 to Canada. In 1914, Vancouver had a population between 60,000 and 70,000. Twenty-five thousand additional Sikhs would have significantly diluted the European-based population, added to the ongoing conflict over low-wage Asian workers and inflamed concern that B.C.'s population could be overwhelmed by large numbers of Asians. Many crude Sikhs like to suggest that Canada had no right to defend its B.C. population and workers from being culturally and economically overwhelmed by Asians. Ironically, B.C. resentment was very similar to the resentment that the Chinese and East Indians felt towards European colonizers in their countries at the same time. If Chinese and East Indians were justified in resisting colonization, so were Canadians who faced a similar danger from huge numbers of Chinese and East Indians.

(2) The Komagata Maru incident was preceded by the Panama Maru incident of October 17, 1913. That event helps to explain much of what happened in the Komagata Maru incident 7 months later. The Panama Maru had carried 56 East Indians to Canada. Most of the passengers had not lived in Canada previously, but falsely claimed that they had. They produced fake money order receipts, time cards, etc. to substantiate their claims. Immigration authorities allowed 17 (those physically recognized to have been here before) to land, but they detained 39 of the 56. A Board of Inquiry looked into the case and ordered that the 39 be deported, but litigious East Indians in Canada determined to make the Panama Maru case a test case. Their lawyer J.Edward Bird appeared before Justice Dennis Murphy, the author of a Royal Commission which had investigated Chinese Immigration Fraud. He ruled against the East Indians. Bird then went to Chief Justice Gordon Hunter, who was notorious for appearing drunk in court and who was a clear embarrassment to the government. He allowed the 39 to stay. Even 4 of the 39 who had been ordered deported for medical reasons, escaped from detention and could not be found. Canadian immigration authorities became determined not to let these people humiliate them again.

(3) The crude members of the Sikhs claim that the Sikhs aboard the Komagata Maru were unjustly treated. The reality is that the Sikhs were merely one part of an ongoing battle that the Vancouver / Southern British Columbia population had already been involved in with low-wage Japanese and Chinese. When the federal government introduced a $500 Head Tax on the Chinese to protect Canadians in 1905, the number of Chinese passengers on the Canadian Pacific (CP) Steamships fell substantially. To end the drop in CP passenger traffic, CP aggressively advertised tickets in India in order to get East Indians like the Sikhs to travel. In 1907, 901 East Indians arrived, doubling B.C. 's East Indian population. In the first 10 months of 1907, a total of about 11,500 East Indians, Japanese and Chinese arrived---an overwhelming number compared to other years. Most of this number were Japanese who had violated Japanese law by not getting Japanese government permission to travel to Canada from Hawaii (where they were working as farm labourers). Half of Vancouver's population, more than 30,000 paraded through Vancouver streets on Labour Day, in September, 1907 to protest the arrival of these people. Many of the 11,500 migrants were illegals or unneeded labourers who were imported to displace Canadian workers. The Vancouver Riot of 1907 followed the parade.

(4) The immigration lobby has completely distorted the 1907 Vancouver Riot and all of the events before it. The crude propagandists among the Sikhs like to cite Ottawa's "Continuous Passage" law as an example of punishment of Sikhs, They conveniently omit the point that the law was primarily intended to stop illegal Japanese labourers from leaving Hawaii and causing unnecessary job competition in B.C. The law was later applied to East Indians for the same reason.

The Vancouver Parade and Riot of 1907 should be remembered in our media and school textbooks as events in which Vancouver residents actually defended themselves against unnecessary and overwhelming immigration. Vancouver residents have to revive the Spirit of 1907 !!.
